Who we are

We are 5 women who met through the #Powertothebump campaign and wanted to create projects and interventions that would empower young mums, change the way young mums are viewed in society and change legislation and practice so it better supports young mums.

Sophie Kathir

Sophie Kathir

Sophie had her first child when she was 21. She now has two children aged 7 and 4 years old. 

Sophie is 28 years old and lives in Harrow. She is a past Young Women’s Trust Advisory Panel member and works full-time and study’s part-time. She is a proud campaigning and volunteer for women’s issues.

Joeli Brearley

Joeli Brearley

Joeli is 38 and lives in Manchester. She has two boys aged 1 and3 years old. Joeli founded the project and campaign, Pregnant Then Screwed after she was sacked by her employer when she was 4 months pregnant. She now works to protect mums from discrimination. 

Laura Davies

Laura Davies

 Laura is 26, a senior bookseller, freelance social media manager, photography graduate and an aspiring author. She had her son Max when she was 20. She is an advisor for the Young Women's Trust and she has been on TV, Radio and spoken at conferences and in parliament about her experience of discrimination as a young mum. She writes the blog: Max and Mummy

Helen Bryce

Helen Bryce

Helen has 3 children and founded her company Lifebulb after she encountered maternity discrimination. Helen now runs workshops for mums to help them tackle discriminatory behaviour whilst challenging them and inspiring them to achieve their goals.
